How long time does a UPS back up?

The back up time is depending on several factors, the power capacity of the load, the battery charging level, and the battery life.

Normally the line interactive UPS can back up 3 to 5 minutes at full load, and 10 to 15minutes at half load at battery fully charged basis.

Please note that the power consumption of the load may vary significantly especially for the switch power based appliances like personal computer, its power consumption may surges to 3 times larger than its rated power consumption when it is operating games, anti virus programs or large graphics designing programs.

Also the battery charging level is also a decisive factor affecting the back up time.

For standard UPS which enclose a battery or a battery pack, the charging time is 8-12 hours, for external battery applications, the charging time is depending on the particular charging current and the battery capacity.
